RED MITES

The red mite is a tiny nocturnal spider-like pest which feeds on the blood of hens. The mites can easily be transferred to other poultry sheds, packing stations or even the end customer, harming reputations and putting at risk valuable contracts. They cause severe spotting of eggs with blood or squashed mite bodies leading to expensive quality down grading. They can carry Pasteurella and have been linked to Salmonella.
