Back to top Neosorexa
Question 1: My dog / cat / horse / cow has eaten some Neosorexa. What should I do?
Answer 1: Do not panic, but contact Sorex and/or your vet for professional advice immediately.
Question 2: I want to use Neosorexa but my cat likes to catch rats and mice and will eat any that it catches. Can the bait inside the rodents affect my cat when he in turn eats the rodents?
Answer 2: It is unlikely that your cat could eat enough contaminated rodents for the difenacoum to have an effect on your cat. (He would have to eat approximately his own body weight in contaminated mice.) However if you are unsure please contact Sorex or contact your local vet for advice.
Question 3: I've been using Neosorexa for weeks and the rodents just seem to be feeding off it. It isn't working.
Answer 3: The fact that the rodents are eating your bait means that they are ingesting a lethal dose of difenacoum. The most likely explanation for your problem is that there are probably many more rodents present than you originally thought. For every rodent you have seen there are probably another 10 that you have not seen. Continue baiting as per our baiting programme and you will see results. Please remember also that the mode of action for difenacoum means that it takes 4-10 days for the rodents to die once they have consumed a lethal dose, and that they usually die undercover and therefore very few rodent bodies are seen. If you still have a problem after about 1 month contact Sorex.
Question 4: I have baited with Neosorexa but the rodents are simply not eating the bait. What can I do to get them to eat the bait?
Answer 4: To ensure the best possible chance of the rodents eating the bait you need to ensure you have fulfilled the following requirements:
1. The most important factor when baiting is placement. Make sure you have placed your baits where signs of rodent activity are found, for example for rats along runs between living and feeding points. Also where signs of gnawing, footprints or smears are seen and where droppings are present and in holes and burrows where appropriate. Also, cover the bait points to provide the sheltered environment in which rodents prefer to feed.
2. The second factor is to ensure that you have restricted rodent access to any alternative food sources. Clear away all other foodstuffs such as animal feed etc. Whilst these normal day to day food sources are still readily available to the rodent, it will be very difficult to get them to eat the bait.

If you have followed these suggestions and the rodents are still not eating the bait then the bait base you have chosen could be the wrong one for the problem you are trying to control. Neosorexa Pellets are highly palatable for rats whereas Sorexa CD is the most palatable bait base for mice. See our Rodent Control product section for further information on the products available. Alternatively ring Sorex for further advice.
Question 5: Can I use Neosorexa to control squirrels?
Answer 5: No. Neosorexa is only approved for use against rats and mice.

Answer 6d: Yes but the longer you can wait before vacuuming the better. You must wait at least until the treated surfaces are completely dry. Longer if possible.
  e. How long should I stay out of my flat?
Answer 6e: Until the treated surfaces are dry.
  f. He got rid of the fleas pretty quickly using your Tenopa but now they're back. What should I do?
Answer 6f: The mode of action of Tenopa means that sometimes there is a flea population resurgence between 3 and 14 days after an initial treatment. This is due to new eggs hatching. If you wait a few days these newly hatched fleas will be killed by the residual activity of the product. Should you still have a problem after 1week of the fleas reappearing contact the pest controller that treated your problem
